When judges are judged

A review by the New York World found the commission often does not remove judges even when they’ve violated the constitutionally guaranteed right to due process or manipulated the outcome of cases. In addition, much of the commission’s work is conducted in secret. New York is one of only 15 states that conduct judicial disciplinary hearings in private. Assemblyman Wright steps up for top campaign contributor

Over the past four years the New York State Podiatric Medical Association has contributed $8,600 to Wright, and, as the association’s documents reviewed by The New York World detail, the podiatrists view Wright as an ally they can ask to sponsor legislation and assist the association in persuading his colleagues in the Assembly to support their priorities.
